NO. I think we should get rid of the Royal Family. They have been responsible for a lot of suffering over the last few hundred years or so. Plus they are the biggest greedy loafing spongers around.
The Queen hands over the revenue from the Crown Lands to the Government who in turn give her an allowance. I believe the Exchequer made a profit last year from this arrangement. However you Americans support and pay for you President from your Tax dollars.
Negative feelings amongst us Brits about the royal ramily have been increasing over the years,but its hard to gauge specific percentages of pro and anti royalists as they seem to change according to events (the wedding) or embarrasing scandals.
My point of view,as a 30yr old self employed person, growing up with Fergies toe sucking antics will probably clash with that of a more traditionalist 70yr old who has grown up with a family who showed more decorum and had the war to inspire community spirit.
Because Dianas wedding was such a big occasion to us in the 80s,williams marriage made some people forget about the obscene wealth and residencies they own,whilst others resent that the amount put into the country versus the amount they use to go on holidays,run theirmany staff& residencies etc feels grossly disproportionate.
Personally i feel they are antiquated, no longer weilding power for the country and a huge drain on the economy.The palaces should be opened up to the tourists for revenue as we hardly see the family anyway,save for a rather dull queens speech at Christmas and some embarassing affairs!
That said some members are strong at charity work and patrons of many varied organisations..id argue that they could still do more however.

Actually the Royal Family Bring more money to Britain than they take out and their influence is far greater than the government. There are a lot of leftist dole scrounging morons in Britain that accuse the Royal family of being a burden, while they themselves have never done a days work in their bloody useless lives but Hey……Every country has its dross to deal with. In all I think the vast majority of us want to keep our Royal family.
I (UK) suspect most people don't mind supporting (financially even) the reigning monarch + the heir to the throne. What upsets most of the UK public is the continuing financial support the taxpayers 'pay-out' for the funding of these 'minor royals' (seemingly) loads of them.
These minor royals should all be self-sufficient in jobs etc – the government claiming the Queen 'funds' these minor royals ….when thats not the case at all – the taxpayers funding 'all' these minor royals in one way of the other…..for individual protection or general security (property etc) or anything else that these minor royals consider necessary costing millions+ per year.
The UK royal family is as a 'dysfunctional family' as any country can have – the queen being the only 'credible one' amongst them all – some having been divorced – the junior royals still having the attitude of 'doff-capping' being required from the peoples (peasants) and becoming very upset if thats not forthcoming.
All of them are a sanctimonious group – who have very little knowledge of the 'real world' – they thinking (demanding) this country (UK) revolves around them – and all those years of 'in-breeding' (history) has produced the current crop of 'out of touch/moronic' individuals and are proof of those actions of years ago.
One of the misunderstandings these royals have is – they 'think' a localised visit from these royals cures all ill's…… no matter the local people these royals choose to vist are living 'well below' the poverty line and the visit will make no difference at all too their daily lives – and when these royal return back too 'Buck House' they (I suspect) patronise what they have encountered that day.
In this day and age – in this 21st century – the UK peoples still have to live with this class distinction of…….. them and us.!!
The UK junior royals have now become a 'reality entertainment show' – with all the 'blunders' they have been caught out on and relayed by the media in the past.
They all have German ancestry and changed their name to Windsor too be 'more palatable' to the UK public……who have fought 2 wars against Germany.
